Heart Valve Replacement | Aortic Valve Replacement Surgery
Valve replacement surgery which is also known as aortic valve replacement surgery is generally known as the replacement of one or more of the heart valves by a bioprosthesis or an artificial heart valve (which is a homograft made from the human tissue or xenograft e.g. from the pig). It is an alternative method to valve repair. There are basically four types of procedures for the same which are mentioned as follows:
Aortic Valve Replacement
Aortic valve repairment and aortic valve replacement are the basic procedures to treat diseases which affect the aortic valve. The aortic valve is among one of four valves that basically helps in regulation of blood flow from the heart. These valves help in flowing of blood in the accurate direction through the heart. The aortic valve separate the main pumping chamber of heart (i.e., left ventricle) and the main artery which supplies oxygen-rich blood to the body (i.e., aorta). If the aortic valve will not work properly, it can do interfere with the flow of blood as well as do force the heart to work harder to supply the essential blood to the rest of the body.
Mitral Valve Repair & Mitral Valve Replacement Cost
These are the procedures that were basically performed for the treatment of diseases related to mitral valve which is located between the left heart chambers (i.e., left atrium and left ventricle). In the mitral valve regurgitation, the leaflets of the mitral valve do not close strongly, which causes leakage of blood backward into the left atria. This is basically occurs due to the leaflets of valve bulging back which is known as a condition known as mitral valve prolapse. Treating the mitral valve diseases rely directly on the severity of the patient condition.
Double Valve Replacement
Double Valve Replacement is type of replacement in which both the mitral and the aortic valve, or the entire left side of the heart got replaced. This type of surgery is not at all very common as comparative to the others and the death rate is slightly higher.
Pulmonary Valve Repair and Pulmonary Valve Replacement
These are the procedures which help in treatment of diseases which affects the pulmonary valve. The pulmonary valve is one among the four valves which regulates the blood flow through the heart. The valve is located between one heart upper chamber (i.e.,atria) and one lower chambers (i.e., ventricles). When the pulmonary valve will not work properly, they can interfere with the flow of blood through the heart to the lungs as well as compel the heart to work very harshly for the supply of the essential blood to the rest of the body. Pulmonary valve replacement cost and any type of heart surgeries mentioned above can cost anywhere between Rs.2.5 lakh to Rs.2.75 lakhs.
